March 31: Jesus has compassion…on an evil spirit

Scripture
Mark 5:10, 12-13
Then the evil spirits begged Him again and again not to send them to some distant place…”Send us into those pigs,” the spirits begged.  “Let us enter them.”  So Jesus gave them permission.  The evil spirits came out of the man and entered the pigs…

Own words/Observation
Jesus is approached by a man with evil spirits living inside of him.  The evil spirits not only knew who he was, but they also knew the power that he had.  The evil spirits asked Jesus not to cast them out of the man and into a far away town.  Jesus listens to the request of the evil spirits and chooses to keep them in the area by casting them out of the man and into a herd of pigs.

Application
Jesus desperately wants us to ask Him for things in life.  He is willing to not only listen to us, but also to answer our requests.  Think about it…in this passage He answers the request of evil spirits, and we, His people, are so much more valuable to God than evil spirits.  I need to come to Jesus boldly with my prayer requests because He wants to answer them.

Prayer
God, thank You for showing me today how important prayer requests are to You.  Today, I pray that you would bring to remembrance the message we taught to the students yesterday about making a U-turn in life and that they would repent with their actions this week.

I like this observation. Jesus cares so much for us and wants to help us go through life.
